May 12, 2025 | MedLegalNews.com — Injury Report Retaliation: The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has filed a whistleblower retaliation complaint against the United States Postal Service (USPS), alleging it illegally fired a worker for reporting a job-related injury.
According to the DOL, the postal worker suffered a workplace injury and promptly reported it to management. Soon after, USPS terminated the employee, citing unrelated misconduct. The DOL claims the termination was retaliatory and violated the Occupational Safety and Health Act’s (OSH Act) whistleblower provisions.
The complaint, filed with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), seeks back pay, reinstatement, compensatory damages, and a cease-and-desist order to prevent future retaliation.
“No worker should fear losing their job for reporting an injury or safety concern,” said an OSHA spokesperson. “Retaliation not only harms individuals—it undermines workplace safety for everyone.”
The case is part of a growing number of federal actions aimed at protecting injured workers who speak up. OSHA has urged employers to maintain reporting procedures that are free from retaliation and consistent with federal law. Injury Report Retaliation
