The declaration honors workers who have lost their lives or suffered serious injury or illness on the job, while urging Californians to reflect on the importance of workplace safety.

A Day of Remembrance and Action

Governor Newsom Honors : “Today, we pause to honor those we have lost and recommit to protecting all workers,” the proclamation states. The observance coincides with the anniversary of the federal Occupational Safety and Health Act, which was enacted to ensure safe working conditions for all Americans.
