Opportunity to Shape California’s Workers’ Compensation Drug Formulary
March 3, 2025 – The California Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) is now accepting applications from licensed physicians and pharmacists to join the Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) Committee for the 2025-2027 term. This committee plays a crucial role in advising the DWC Administrative Director on updates and improvements to California’s Medical Treatment Utilization Schedule (MTUS) drug formulary.
Committee Responsibilities and Term Details
The Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee established under Labor Code section 5307.29, meets quarterly (January, April, July, and October) to review and recommend adjustments to the drug formulary. Members serve a two-year term and provide expert input on medication guidelines for treating injured workers.
Currently, six positions are available:
- Three physician seats (for medical doctors or doctors of osteopathy)
- Three pharmacist seats (for licensed pharmacists)
Existing committee members may reapply for another term. Although service is voluntary, members receive reimbursement for certain travel expenses.

Physicians and pharmacists interested in applying must submit a completed application package, which includes:
- Application form
- Conflict of interest disclosure form
- Committee regulations outlining qualifications and responsibilities
